Quite simply a matter of Life or Death
The value of a telecare alarm service should be underestimated at your peril. One fortunate pensioner from Liverpool has her Lifeline alarm to thank for life itself.
On 17th February, Mrs Angel from Walton suddenly started to feel severely unwell at home when she describes her ‘legs having gone, I was collapsed on the floor, drifting in and out of consciousness and I thought that I was going to die’. She was experiencing intense pain in her chest as a result of a heart attack.
Somehow, she mustered the strength to call her GP surgery, but after 20 minutes of ringing out, she received no reply. She then had the presence of mind to press her Lifeline pendant which promptly came through to VNC Lifeline who were able to quickly arrange for an ambulance to take her to hospital.
After 3 days in hospital, a balloon and stents installed in her heart, the doctors told her that she had had a clot in her artery and had she got to hospital any later, she simply would not have survived.
After the event, the lucky pensioner said, “The ironic thing is that only a week before, I had thought I would send the Lifeline alarm back as I hadn’t used it and thought someone else could be getting the benefit from it. I am so glad now that I didn’t! Whilst I was going through the ordeal it was so reassuring to have someone at the end of the line trying to reassure me to keep calm”.
The Lifeline service is like a silent carer in the home; always there, but in an unobtrusive way. Why not think about having a Lifeline alarm installed in your home? You cannot put a price on peace of mind, and it may even save your life one day.

Always good to hear
We always welcomes positive feedback from our customers, just like this one, recently received from the family of a new customer.
“I am so thankful for the expedient and impressive service we received from VNC Lifeline.
My mother (who is 84yrs old) recently underwent a knee replacement operation, and as I live in Shropshire, I took time off work to look after her whilst she recovered. I became anxious as the time for me to leave became nearer, and as I was concerned about times that she would be alone and vulnerable, I was advised by the District nurse to contact VNC Lifeline.
From the very first contact the service was excellent, the staff were kind, courteous and very understanding of an anxious daughter wanting advice on what was available to provide peace of mind both for my mum and us, her family.
Within a few days an engineer called to fit the Lifeline unit, who was professional at all times, informative, warm, kind and caring. We were very impressed!
Now that I am back at home, we all now have peace of mind that should mum need help, she has access to it through Lifeline. The service is great, and the staff involved in delivering the service need to be congratulated for their professionalism, kind, understanding and caring attitude in dealing with anxious, vulnerable people”.

The results which prove what we've always known!
Telecare Delivers Life-Changing Results: Fact.
We've been spreading the message for almost two decades now that telecare works. We know this from almost 20 years of delivering a first-class telecare alarm service, to saves lives and enable independent living across Merseyside. But, the academic and clinical data to prove this conviction has not been available - until now.
The results of the largest randomised controlled trial of telecare and telehealth in the world (the Whole System Demonstrator, or WSD) were published recently and demonstrate that telecare can deliver:
• A 15% reduction in A&E visits
• A 20% reduction in emergency admissions
• A 14% reduction in elective admissions
• A 14% reduction in bed days
• An 8% reduction in tariff costs
• A 45% reduction in mortality rates
The findings from the WSD trial can be found at http://www.dh.gov.uk/health/2011/12/wsd-headlinefindings/
Put simply telecare saves lives! There are more than 1.6m households across the UK who already receive a telecare and/or telehealth service. Telecare gives individuals the choice, security and more control over their long term health condition, using technology-assisted services, tailored to their individual needs.
We offer a range of telecare solutions from gas, flood and smoke detectors to enuresis monitors, bed occupancy sensors and extreme temperature monitors. See more information on our website www.vnclifeline.co.uk.
